Kay at the desk in the This Brown Geek London studio

About

I am This Brown Geek.

People call me Kay. I spent almost two decades as a fibre network planner at BT, building the infrastructure everyone uses and nobody sees, and then left to point a camera at what gets built on top of it.

The pitch is simple: most of what is happening to your privacy arrives as an update, a terms change, a safety measure. I take it apart, and I tell you what it actually does. No broadcaster, no party, no PR firm behind me.

I also host Tech IT or Leave IT, a London podcast on technology, privacy, and the digital landscape as it actually is.

What you get from me

Free speech

A country that arrests people over usernames while talking about 'safety' is not protecting you. I will keep saying that out loud.

Privacy

Encryption is not a nice-to-have. When platforms strip it, when governments demand backdoors, when a robot in your house has a stranger on the line. That is the story.

Show me I am wrong

No editor, no press office, nobody paying me to hold a position. So I can change my mind when the evidence does. If I am wrong, hit dislike twice and tell me why in the comments. I can take it.

The studio

I built a bespoke YouTube studio in London so the work looks like I take it seriously, because I do. Broadcast mic, cinema camera, proper lights, a network that would make my old colleagues proud. If you want a look around, the sneak peek is on the channel (full tour coming soon).
